Psylliostachys suworowii
The Psylliostachys suworowii , or Limonium suworowii, is a striking plant with characteristic very long, irregularly shaped plumes that stick up like candles. This annual is loved for its unique shape and airy appearance.
Traditionally grown for the dried flower trade – the plant produces new flower stems all summer long, so that it can also provide beautiful colour and shape contrasts in the border. This plant adds height and movement to mixed plantings.
Sow indoors in early spring or directly outdoors after the last frost. Seeds will germinate at temperatures around 15-20°C.
This plant likes full sun and well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant and grows to a height of about 2 feet.
The Suvorov's Tailflower is native to Central Asia, where it grows in open grasslands.
