Hordeum jubatum, 'kwispelbarley' - This short-lived perennial grass species, grown as an annual, blooms with beautiful, long silky, plume-like stalks with purple-pink sheen that sway softly in the wind and get beautiful silver-green and pink shades. They are not only beautiful to combine in the garden, but also for the bouquet (cut all grass species when immature!). This ornamental grass gives an airy effect to flower borders. Blooms from June to August.
Sow directly outdoors in April.
Native to North America, grows well in sunny, well-drained soil.
