Dahlia
Dahlia variabilis
'Sunny Reggae'
The Dahlia is mainly known for its tubers that can be propagated or cut. This allows you to make exact copies of the mother plant. Nice if you want more of the same type, but if you want to be surprised, you can also grow dahlias from seed. Plants from seed, of which the tubers can be kept from year to year, give a surprising result every time. The Dahlia Variabilis 'Sunny Reagae' have single flowers in peach, orange, pink and yellow shades. Dahlia variabilis is known for its rich colours and flowering in various forms, from single-flowered to double-flowered. This dahlia provides a lush summer colour splendour. Dahlias bloom exuberantly from July to October.
Pre-sowing is possible in March-April. Plant the plants outside after the last frost. The second year you can keep them as you are used to with tubers.
Remove faded flowers regularly for longer flowering.
Originally a perennial from Mexico and South America, dahlias thrive in sunny places and like rich, well-drained soil. If kept frost-free, they can also be kept as a perennial.
